For my card I started by making the background. On a piece of card stock I did the Copic colouring I do quite often, to add colour to it. I’ve gone for blues as it’s my favourite colour. This is done by sweeping the chisel nib back and forth on the card stock, then blending them to create a smooth look.

When I was happy with the colouring, I ran it through my die cutting machine with the Peacock Backdrop Die from Kat Scrappiness. It might have been a good idea to leave it to dry before I did that as the paper was a bit tough to get clean cut. Something to remember if you want to try this.

After poking out the negative bits, I put the panel on a sheet of acetate and dabbed my Embossing Pad all over it. On top of this, I sprinkled ready mixed Glisten embossing powder. Mine is 50/50 Glisten and Clear Gloss, so I can add glimmer without changing the colour under. I’m obsessed with it! I also have a neat little hack to save your fingers from burning when you use your heat tool. With some pointy tweezers and a cork board, you can save yours too. When this was cool again, I adhered it to a white card base and the effect is lovely.

On top of this fab background I needed something fun, and as all of us hopping along today are crafty peeps, I thought I’d use the Crafty Turnabout stamp and coordinating diecuts. I cut out various tools with the dies and added colour to them with Copics, then puzzled them together. For an extra little bit of pizzazz I used the Embossing Pen and added Clear Gloss powder to some fun details.

I heatembossed the sentiment ‘Crafty friends are the best‘ in Platinum on the rectangle.

Then it was time to puzzle the pieces around to see how it was going to go, which always takes a bit of time. When I was happy with the layout, I used an A2 sized piece of Press’n’Seal to pick up the pieces. I turned it over, added some liquid glue and then adhered it to the card.

With that, the card was done! I hope you like it. Now it’s time to hop along to see more fantastic inspiration from the rest of the team, and the next stop on the hop. The fantastic Jo Herbert!

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
