Pinkfresh Studio July 2022 Stamp, Die, Stencil, Washi, and Hot Foil Release

Today I’m excited to be blog hopping with Pinkfresh and friends! We are celebrating the July release and as usual, there is a load of gorgeous and versatile products coming out.

I have mixed and matched some older goodies with the new release. The Stitched Scallop Rectangle diecut is one of my all-time faves from Pinkfresh, it’s so pretty, so versatile and in my opinion it really elevates a simple card design without taking the focus away from the focal point on the card. I also love the Dotted Scalloped cover plate. It’s such a gorgeous pattern and was the perfect thing for this card.

The Go For It suite is new for July, and it’s such a lovely and dainty image, yet packs a punch. How is that for awesomeness? For this card I have used all but the stamp itself, and soft spring colours, despite it being a heat wave right now. I should have gone for fiery colours perhaps but I’m really drawn to yellow on cards.

After foiling the Go For It image with Matte Gold, I used the layering stencils over it to add colour. Don’t try and diecut first and then ink blend, always ink blend first and then cut it out.

I am so happy to have a coordinating diecut for this image as I’d never manage to cut this all out without chopping off a stem or leaf.

The ink colours used are Lemon Whip, Sunshine, Sweet Mustard and Grassy Knoll. I used the same yellow inks for the sentiment, which is from the Fall Leaf Border suite. The sentiments are all ink blended with the Fall Leaf Border Stencils for a really gorgeous look, and they all have coordinating diecuts too.

To put the card together I have layered up a lot of the pieces for that lovely dimensional look. The background is propped up, the sentiments are stacked, the frame is layered with a white one under the yellow, and the flower heads are raised up with foam tape. The final touch were some dainty clear crystals, for a morning dew or raindrop look.

My second card is done in a similar way, with a cover plate to add texture on the background and the Stitched Scallop Rectangles to add in a delicate touch. This cover plate is the Floral Backdrop and I used it on Soft Stone card stock from Gina K Designs.

The pattern in created with the Fall Leaf Border stencils, and bright happy ink colours. Once I had ink blended the pattern, I fussy cut along the border of them to cut off the excess white space.

I picked another sentiment from the set, Thank you, this time and used yellows and apricot colours to create the look before cutting them out with the coordinating diecut. These are also raised, but with foam tape this time.

To keep with the colour scheme I used Sunshine Jewels for this card, and quite a restrained amount, for me.

Trinity Stamps Autumn Impressions release | Guest Designing and YouTube hop!

Hi guys!

It’s a busy day on the blog today, this is one of two, and this one is all about the newest release from Trinity Stamps! I was delighted to be asked to guest for this release, as I was on the design team when Trinity first started and I am friends with several of the design team members in real life.

In fact, last year after Creativation, Tanesia, Katie and I got together at Room To Craft in Bothwell, Washington, for an afternoon of crafting, chatting and general catching up! It was so much fun and went by way too fast.

Ok, enough reminiscing before I get all emotional about how hard it’s been since Covid hit. So, the new release is amazing and I have some fun things to show off, as well as a couple of cards.

The first thing that grabbed me, which should surprise nobody at all, is the Rainbow Layering Stencils! Ok, these are rather genius and so easy to use! There is also a coordinating stamp set AND diecut set for these, but they work really well on their own as well.

I made two backgrounds with these fun stencils, using inks from Concord & 9th, in Buttercup, Sprout, Oceanside, Midnight, Eggplant, Honeysuckle and Marmalade. With a small army of Life Changing Blender Brushes, pre cut card bases and some washi tape, I got to work.

My first attempt I might have been a little bit too gung-ho on, and I didn’t line up the bottom of the rainbow arches perfectly, but eh, it still turned out fab.

This one I made really dark and rich, and finished if off with a diecut banner stamped with the sentiment ‘Just wanted to say you always make me smile‘. I did use a Mini MISTI to make sure I got the sentiment on relatively evenly spaced out and properly stamped.

The banner itself is propped up with some foam tape and that was that. No bling, if you can believe it!

On the second panel, I went in with a very light hand for a more pastel look. I also added some clouds before, which I didn’t do on the first one. When I was happy with this one, I stamped the Awesome Human stamp in the middle of it, with black ink.

All around it I used the Summer Sparkles embeltiments that comes in the Summer Blooms kit, which is still available in the shop!

Pinkfresh Studio July Stamp, Die, Stencil, and Hot Foil Release

Hi and welcome back to my little blog!

Today’s post is an exciting one: it’s my first release blog hop as a design team member for Pinkfresh! *insert giddy dance here*

Unsurprisingly, it’s another fabulous release and full of fun products. If you remember the washi tapes with coordinating dies and stamps from earlier release, they now also come with layering stencils, in case the washis aren’t for you. How cool is that??

The Anemone Magic washi tape is super gorgeous, and so handy when you need a quick card, but don’t have time to colour. Now another handy addition to that range has been added with the Anemone Magic layering stencils!

I went with a very different colour scheme compared to the Anemone Magic washi tape. Mostly to show how versatile the products are, and how you get gorgeous results every time. The coordinating dies make cutting them all out quick work too.

These colours are Peach Fuzz and Apricot for the Anemone Magic flowers, and Doe and Gathered Twig for the leaves. The outline stamp is heat embossed with Rose Gold embossing powder from WOW! Embossing. I used the coordinating dies and set aside the pieces.

I used the same Rose Gold embossing powder on an entire panel and then used the Stitches cover plate to add texture to it. This card was inspired by the wallpaper in my little sister’s bedroom, which later became our mother’s sewing room in our childhood home.

A few… or maybe a good sprinkling of the Espresso Jewel finished the card off. Because it wasn’t shiny or sparkly enough with all that embossing powder, clearly.

I used the same Anemone Magic stencils for the second card, but with yellows and greens, and no outline image. It created a much softer look so I left it as it was, without the outline stamp, and used the coordinating dies. The yellows are Lemon Whip, Sunshine and Sweet Mustard. The greens are Fresh Pear and Mint. On these I did

Right in the middle I stamped one of the sentiments in Black Ink, to make it stand out. It’s such a lovely one too. Who wouldn’t love getting a card with that message on it?

To finish this card I used the Diagonal Stitched Plaid cover plate on white card stock. I could have left it like this, but no. So to add more interest, I made Fresh Pear coloured card stock by dabbing the ink pad on white card stock and then I cut that with the Slim Stripes dies. These I adhered to the card, drew a thin black line on them and then popped up the flowers with a bit of foam tape on top.

Naturally I could not resist the lure of those gorgeous Stargazer Jewels, so I added a few of those too. You can get these in a box with 12 different colours too, and now also individually.

Ink Blending Extravaganza + Paper Glaze + Diecuts = Fun, colourful cards with NO colouring!

Hello, my colour-loving friends!

As much as I love colouring (she says whilst the inner child is jumping around with joy) sometimes I just don’t have the time or the energy to colour, but I still want colour on my cards. What a conundrum, right? This is where ink blending comes to the rescue and oh, how I love that technique too! It’s one of my go-to for a blast of colour FAST!

It’s fun, fresh, and you can mix and match colours to suit occasions, themes and preferences of the recipient of the card. What’s not to love?

Dab your panel with Embossing Ink and sprinkle a bit of Halo embossing glitter on top and you have homemade glitter card stock too!

If you don’t want glitter card stock, you can add Clear Gloss on top for shiny card stock. Super simple and high impact! Plus it’s quick and easy to make more when you run out. Win-Win!

Other ways of adding interest to an ink blended background is to splatter some water, coloured or gold water colour, shimmer sprays, white paint or something like Distress sprays. I’m particularly loving gold splatters myself. It’s such a simple, yet wow-factor way of adding a little something extra.

These cards in this post are done with Distress Oxide inks, blended with my go-to blending tools: the Life Changing Blender Brushes from Picket Fence Studios. I can not stress enough how important it is to have a tool for ink blending that works for you. The brushes might not be for you, you might prefer the Tim Holtz ink blending tool, or the domed version from Scrapbook.com, or maybe the hexagon brush from Honey Bee Stamps. Whatever works for you is what you should stick to, no matter the opinions of someone else, me included. I’m merely saying that for me, the Life Changing Blender Brushes really live up to their name, and they have helped elevate my ink blending game to a whole new level!

Now, let’s get to some of the cards: On a piece of cardstock I blended Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, Fired Brick, Wilted Violet and Black Soot with Life Changing Blender Brushes. On top of this I splattered some gold using the Kuretake Starry Color palette, becuse of course I cannot resist gold splatters. You can make your own by mixing some Golden Rose Paper Glaze with water. This is a second panel done, with the addition of Wild Honey, without Wilted Violet, and taken before gold splatters were added.

As the idea was to have the Scarecrow Cover Plate Die from Picket Fence Studios on top of this, I have gone from light to dark, almost as if there is a fire behind it, or candles in the Jack-o-lanterns.

The scarecrow herself couldn’t be plain, nope. I wanted a little wow-factor for that too, so I made some shimmer card stock by spreading some Black Pansy and Golden Rose Paper Glaze, one of my top three fave products EVER from Picket Fence Studios, on black card stock. On top of this I also added a tiny bit of Fall Gold Paper Glitz.

I didn’t get a photo of that before I cut it up, but here is the second piece I made with Autumn Persimmon Paper Glitz.

When this was dry, I cut out the Scarecrow using my diecutting machine. Depending on your machine and how much Paper Glaze you use, you might need to run it through twice to get clean, sharp lines.

This was adhered directly to the background, with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and then a sentiment from the So Franken Cute stamp set was stamped with Black Hybrid ink on it, with the help of the Mini MISTI. When you stamp your sentiment last thing, it’s better to be safe than sorry, to avoid hiccups, hence the Mini MISTI.

The second card was done in a similar fashion, with the same colours on the background, including the gold splatters. This is the one I used that second shimmer card stock for, and I used the Scarecrow diecut again. I also cut out the word BOO with the Seeing Double Alpha dies.

The sentiment on this one is from A Spooky Day, and it’s stamped up with Black Hybrid ink with the help of the Mini MISTI. The BOO was adhered with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive, as was the Scarecrow.

Seeing them next to each other is fun, because you can see the similarity and where they have their own little unique touches.

The next two cards are pretty much the same, only different colours. Naturally, it’s still ink blended but the colours used are Squeezed Lemonade, Salvaged Patina, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, Wilted Violet and Black Soot. I’m LOVING this blend! So much so, I made two of these as well.

Instead of gold splatters on the first one, I opted for black and yellow by using Distress Oxide sprays in Mustard Yellow and Black soot. I tried to not overdo it, but I think a few more wouldn’t have been amiss.

Similarly, the shimmer card stock was done with black card stock, and some Ocean Poppy and Lime Zinnia Paper Glaze. These colours are kind of glow-in-the-dark-esque on the black card stock, which looks really quite cool.

Once that was dry, I cut out the scarecrows and again, adhered it straight to the background with the Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. For the second card, I also cut out the word BOO with the Seeing Double Alpha dies from the shimmer card stock made with the Paper Glaze.

Sentiment wise I used one from the So Franken Cute for the card on the right, but this one was heat embossed in Opaque Bright White on black card stock. It was also adhered on an angle, with more Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive, rather than straight across. The second card was done with the BOO glued down and the same sentiment from A Spooky Day with Black Hybrid ink.

With four cards in total done, all that was left to do was adhered them both to a card base and that’s it. What do you think? Not a bad pop of colour for no-colouring cards, right?

Inkon3 & My Sweet Petunia/MISTI collaboration

Hello, hello!

Today’s post is for a collaboration between Inkon3 and My Sweet Petunia, the company behind the MISTI. If you know me, you know I’m useless without my MISTI, I’m a forever fan, that’s for sure.

For my card today, I decided to use the new My Sweet Petunia stamp set, with the coordinating layering stencils! So cool. I love these.

I have used the luscious Atelier inks for the inkblending, with an array of Life Changing Blender Brushes from Picket Fence Studios. For the flowers I used Sweet Petunia Pink (duh, lol!) and Bee Sting Yellow. I did plan on using some My Jam Purple for depth, but just layered up more of the pink and yellow.

For the stems and leaves I used Goddess Green with a touch of Trinity Teal and Bee Sting Yellow. I’m not 100% happy with the result though, I should have just used the green and teal I think.

After letting this dry a little, I used an anti-static tool all over the panel before popping it into my MISTI. As I wanted to heat emboss the My Sweet Petunia stamp over it, I am so glad I had the MISTI on hand. NO waaaaaay I would have been able to get it right with a stamping block.

I reached for my fave WOW! embossing powder, Rich Gold, and after stamping the image with the Embossing Pad, I sprinkled it all over, tapped off the excess and set it with my heat tool.

That gold goes so well with the colours, but then it does work with everything in my opinion. I love this gold, it’s so classy and elegant. Apparently there wasn’t enough gold on it already though, so I splattered some gold water colours, from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette, all over it as well.

Sentiments wise I didn’t want to take away too much from the flowers, so I kept it simple with a sentiment from the Here For You set, stamped up in Sweet Petunia Pink, on a slim banner.

My package only arrived 26 hours ago, so I don’t have much to show, but I promise you I will have more posts and YouTube videos up as soon as I can. I have seen sneak peeks of the goodies and I can not wait to play with it all. I started with the Miss Your Smile and coordinating slim line stencil, because those big blooms were calling out to me.

I grabbed my Pinkfresh Inks and the swatches I had made, lots of Life Changing Blender Bushes and some panels of Bristol Smooth card stock, and went for it. The ink pads are 30% off until May 2nd, with the code INKPADS30 too!!

This one I finished off by stamping the Miss Your Smile outline in Black Hybrid ink, with the help of my MISTI, as well as a heat embossed sentiment from the Perfect Sentiment. I heat embossed it in gold rather than try my hand at the Hot Foil Plate, before using the coordinating die, seeing as I was under a bit of time pressure.

I tried another colour combination as I had a second panel ready, and why not, right? This one went in a much more coral, peachy colour combo. Like soft spring, sort of.

I had a bit of heat embossing hoopla, as I didn’t have time to let the panel dry properly. Even though I used my WOW! Heat Tool AND anti-static tool generously on it. The gold embossing powder I used ended up all over it, and at first I was mad about it, but then I decided to make it work for me.

I stamped up one of the sentiments from Miss Your Smile in Clementine (at least I think it was, could be Apricot) and I did add some gold splatters on both of the panels, as well as Slim Stitched Scalloped Rectangles on them. One in black card stock and one in a mint linen textured card stock I had in my stash.

I did make a rather jibber-jabber-happy YouTube Video for these too, and a third card!

Alex Syberia March Release! Copic coloring on vellum.

Hi guys!

Today is release day for Alex Syberia’s March release of digital stamps, and as always, she has some amazing designs for us!

I started out with the Fabulous Floral slim line flowers and printed it on vellum. The upside with having a laser printer is that I can foil the images, which always looks fab! This one I foiled with white Minc foil, using my Minc machine.

To add some colour, I turned it over and used Copics, on the back. When using this technique, you do have to add quite a lot of colours, or strong ones, in order for it to show through the vellum.

When the colouring was done, I gently wrapped the vellum piece over a white slim line card base, and glued down the sides to the back so it wouldn’t show.

To finish this off, I used a discontinued, but loved, word die from Neat & Tangled that says ‘love you’ in a gorgeous font. The paper I used is homemade shimmer paper! You can make your own by smearing Paper Glaze from Picket Fence Studios on card stock, let it dry and voilá!

I cut out another two layers and added these together with liquid glue, before adhering the whole thing to the card. Layering word dies up is such a simple but effective way of taking your card designs up a notch, with little effort. This word die is sold out in a LOT of places, and the only shop I found it actually in stock is Foiled Fox, so if you want it, GRAB IT FAST!!

Tonic Studios Stamp Club Compassion & Poppies Blog Hop!

So, full disclosure, my goodies only arrived 24hrs ago, so it has been a bit of a scramble. I only finished one full card but if I manage to make more, I will share them over on my Instagram.

I started by stamping the big flower image with Black Hybrid ink on Neenah paper with my MISTI, as I wanted to do some Copic colouring. I started out with reds, greens and cool greys, but decided to skip out on the greens in favour of colouring the leaves grey for a dramatic look.

A bit of masking here and there protected my flowers, and I heat embossed the two leaves from the stamp set in Platinum from WOW! Embossing powder. It goes so well with the grey on the leaves, and adds that gorgeous shine to the card. I made sure to use my anti-static tool generously before, as the paper was still a bit wet from the colouring.

I used my WOW! heat tool to set the powder. I love this tool, thanks to the dual settings you have so much more control over the heat and that’s always a good thing.

To add some drama to the card, I ink blended some Hickory Smoke and Black Soot around the edges, using my Blender Brushes. This not only adds drama, but also draws the eye in to the star of the show: the poppies.

The final touch was to heat emboss one of the sentiments onto black card stock. I used Platinum again, for a cohesive look, and trimmed it down to a slim banner before adhering it with liquid glue.

Pinkfresh Studio Seamless Floral Pattern Cards

Hello, hello!

I’m back again with another few projects using the Pinkfresh Studio December Stencil and Die release. There is also a video on my YouTube channel for these!

For these I have used the Seamless Floral Pattern stencils, with two very different colour schemes and finishing touches, to show how versatile these stencils are.

On the first card I picked out some pastel colours from the Big Ink Pad Bundle, which is 30% off until the 17th! Perfect timing to treat yourself to a great colour selection of fabulous inks. I picked out Lemon Whip and Sunshine from the yellows, Ballet Slipper and Sparkling Rose from the pinks, Sky Blue and Summer Shower from the blues, Ocean Breeze and Aquamarine from the teals and finally Mint and Meadow from the cool greens.

I’ve used a light spray of Pixie Spray on the stencils, but if you don’t have that, there are marks for card bases sized 5.5″x4.25″ which makes it really easy to line the layers up.

I have used my Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes for this ink blending session, where I usually use Life Changing Blender Brushes from Picket Fence Studios. I’ve let them all get a bit too inky from previous ink blending sessions, and wanted to make sure that there was no contamination from any other ink pads for this project. A spa day for the brushes are on the horizon for sure.

It’s somewhat difficult to explain in words how I did the ink blending over the different layers, so if you prefer to watch the how-to, hop on over to my YouTube channel. I have basically gone over the same area on each one of the stencils with the same colours, to create a soft pastel rainbow look. With the last two I have gone in with darker inks, as mentioned above, and the final layer I used Moonstone Glimmer Paste from Nuvo.

Whilst waiting for the Glimmer Paste to dry, I tried another few colour combinations. I started with Soft Lilac and Lavender Candy Violet, as well as Coral Reef and Passion Fruit for the flower petals. I also used Warm Buff and Doe for the leaves. The final layer was actually heat embossed in Copper from WOW! Embossing powder, after dabbing the Embossing Pad all over the last stencil.

I love the look of the copper heat embossing as a final touch. Because I hadn’t waited for the ink to dry 100%, there was some stray bits of heat embossing powder in places where I didn’t really want it, but oh well. It did sort of add to the vintage soft look I was after.

I finished this one by trimming down the panel and adhering it to a brown textured card stock from Lawn Fawn, and that whole thing got adhered to a card base. The last thing I did was stamping up a sentiment from the Through The Trees stamp set, with Gathered Twigs ink, directly on the background panel.

The first panel was also trimmed down, but this one was adhered to a black panel. Before I adhered this one to the card base, I actually used the ‘awesome’ die cut on it in the middle. It’s going to be covered up by the flower panel anyway so why waste that paper? I did cut out both the word and the shadow bit, and also cut out one more shadow part in white. These are layered up with black, white and then the black ‘awesome’ on top. The reason I did this is to add a little bit of interest with the black at the bottom.

A sentiment needs something more than just ‘awesome’ so I stamped up part of a sentiment from Thankful For Friends stamp set, on a super skinny banner. The original sentiment says Our Friendship Is Amazing, and now with the diecut it says ‘Our Friendship Is Awesome’.

WOW! Embossing New Release YouTube Hop!

Hi guys!

Today’s blog post is going to be quite quick, because the real action is over on YouTube where I’m hopping along with the WOW! Embossing design team to show off a new release of glittery goodness. There are two new trios, Toteally Awesome and Summer Scoop.

As well as two coordinating embossing powders to the new Catherine Pooler inks: Deck The Halls and Cranberry Sparkle.

Oh, and a glow in the dark powder called Galaxy Glitter!

Right, so I’m going to skip to my cards now. I made two, using a mix of the colours in the Summer Scoop and Toteally Awesome trios. On my first card I used a diecut from The Stamp Market called Color Block 1, on white card stock.

The triangles I popped out and set aside the frame for later. I picked two colours from both trios, as there were eight triangles, and started by covering them with Embossing Pad ink. I did two of each colour, and then set them with the heat tool.

With all triangles done, I glued down the frame to a card base and then added the triangles in. The background was done, and it was time to add a sentiment. I cut out a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, that says ‘thinking of you’, four times and layered these up. On top of this, I heat embossed White Twinkle, to make it nice and sparkly, like the rest of the card.

The second card is done with Painted Dots Turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th, and the same embossing powders as the first one.

With the help of a MISTI and a Turnabout Jig, I stamped the pattern with the Embossing Pad and did one colour at a time. I only added the powder, I did not use the heat tool in between each one. Not until all of the pattern was stamped and covered with the embossing powders.

With that background done, I grabbed another Concord & 9th stamp set, All The Birthdays, to create a sentiment. I used the big Happy and stamped it up with the Embossing Pad and used Razzleberry, from the Summer Scoop trio. It didn’t look overly opaque, so I did it again and then covered it with Clear Gloss on top.

With black ink I stamped up ‘birthday’ on a very slim banner, and this I added to the Happy banner. The final thing to do was to add it to a card base and layer up the sentiment banners, and the card was done.
