Inkon3 & My Sweet Petunia/MISTI collaboration

Hello, hello!

Today’s post is for a collaboration between Inkon3 and My Sweet Petunia, the company behind the MISTI. If you know me, you know I’m useless without my MISTI, I’m a forever fan, that’s for sure.

For my card today, I decided to use the new My Sweet Petunia stamp set, with the coordinating layering stencils! So cool. I love these.

I have used the luscious Atelier inks for the inkblending, with an array of Life Changing Blender Brushes from Picket Fence Studios. For the flowers I used Sweet Petunia Pink (duh, lol!) and Bee Sting Yellow. I did plan on using some My Jam Purple for depth, but just layered up more of the pink and yellow.

For the stems and leaves I used Goddess Green with a touch of Trinity Teal and Bee Sting Yellow. I’m not 100% happy with the result though, I should have just used the green and teal I think.

After letting this dry a little, I used an anti-static tool all over the panel before popping it into my MISTI. As I wanted to heat emboss the My Sweet Petunia stamp over it, I am so glad I had the MISTI on hand. NO waaaaaay I would have been able to get it right with a stamping block.

I reached for my fave WOW! embossing powder, Rich Gold, and after stamping the image with the Embossing Pad, I sprinkled it all over, tapped off the excess and set it with my heat tool.

That gold goes so well with the colours, but then it does work with everything in my opinion. I love this gold, it’s so classy and elegant. Apparently there wasn’t enough gold on it already though, so I splattered some gold water colours, from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette, all over it as well.

Sentiments wise I didn’t want to take away too much from the flowers, so I kept it simple with a sentiment from the Here For You set, stamped up in Sweet Petunia Pink, on a slim banner.

Picket Fence And My Sweet Petunia Collab!

Hello, hello!!

Today Picket Fence Studios and My Sweet Petunia, the genius behind the MISTI aka Most Impressive Stamping Tool Invented, are hopping to celebrate being fabulous. Or maybe it was just to collaborate with their amazing products? Either way, in my mind, it’s going to be a fabulous collaboration!! You should have come here from Karen and the next stop is Susie!

I should start this by saying ‘Hi, I’m Erica and I’m addicted to the MISTI’s‘ I am a totally self-confessed, and not ashamed about it, MISTI addict. I can not overstate how much this amazing tool changed my crafting world!

For my card today I have basically copied a recent card I made with the fabulous Botan Peony stamp, hands DOWN one of my all time favourite stamps from Picket Fence. I absolutely love it! On this one I stamped the flower at a slightly different angle and used a very different colour scheme.

As I mentioned, on this card I wanted bright colour and a real ka-pow! I went with a very un-natural colour scheme for this big peony.

My husband wasn’t sold on it at all and I must admit I had absolutely no idea how this was going to look like when I started. I had envisioned going deep teal at the bottom of the leaves but as you can see, that didn’t happen.

The above photo shows the exact markers I used, in order. The Botan Peony is stamped with the copic friendly Hybrid Black ink. After stamping it a few times with the help of my MISTI, I used a heat tool to set the ink a little before I started colouring.

I originally thought I’d use the Hello Word Die to finish off the card but after cutting out a few pieces and layering them up, I changed my mind. Instead I ended up using a previously made I Miss You Word Die piece, made out of gold mirror card stock and black card stock.

Once this was glued down with the Lawn Fawn glue tube I actually decided to leave it there. Yep, that means no sequins. *audible shocked gasps*

Concord & 9th Feature Friday part 2!

Today I am back with another blog post featuring the February release from Concord & 9th. If you missed the first one, where we focused on the Meadow Blossom bundle and the Brushed Stripes Background Stamp, you can find that post HERE.

The stars of this post are the Stitched Blooms Bundle and this month’s Turnabout stamp Blooms. The bundle also come as separate pieces, with the Stitched Blooms stamp and Stitched Blooms dies. The dies have a fabulous stitched pattern that is just gorgeous!

I have made quite a few cards with these goodies so let’s get to it!

My first cards is super simple and elegant, if I may say so myself. I simply used the Stitched Bloom diecut on white card stock, twice to get a full coverage. After heat embossing one of the sentiments from the Say Hello stamp set on a strip of vellum, I wrapped this around the panel and then adhered the whole thing to a white card base.

I wasn’t done with the Stitched Bloom diecut, and used it on a piece of water colour card stock. Then coloured it in with Atelier Ink re-inkers I had mixed with Liquid Pixie Dust. It adds sparkle to the colours and look fabulous. It’s not the easiest thing to photograph properly, but I tried.

The colours I used for the colouring are Bee Sting Yellow, Marilyn Red and Goddess Green. I have a plastic palette where I’ve dripped a few drops of each colour, and into these, I added a drop or two of the Liquid Pixie Dust. By adding in the shimmer into the colours, I kill two birds with one stone and only need to do one bit of colouring! Genius, right??

This card I wanted to keep quite simple as well, to keep the focus on the pattern and the colouring. I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the Stitched Bloom stamp set. I used Rich Gold WOW! Embossing powder, but heat embossed it twice to get a nice raised texture on it.

I turned my attention to the Blooms Turnabout stamp next, and I went to town with stamping up some panels with different inks. All the inks I have used are from Altenew and naturally I had my MISTI for this part. On my first one I used pinks and light green. For the green I used only Bamboo, and for the pinks I used all four of the inks in the Cherry Blossom family. I have the Ovals but they also come in Mini Cubes.

My second panel was bright and vivid, with yellows and light turquoise/blues. The yellows are from the Pocketful Of Sunshine, these also come in Ovals and Mini Cubes as well. The blue/turquoise inks are Sea Glass and Ocean Waves from the Cool Summer Nights. Ovals and Minis as with all of them.

The last panel is more like a fabric pattern than ‘natural’ colours but I love how it turned out! I also tried something different with this panel and that was embossing three of the turns of the flower part with clear embossing powder.

The colours are from the Cool Summer Nights family for the leaves, and the flowers are done in grey from the Rock Collection set. I did the three lighter colours of the grey with the clear embossing over them to see what it looked like and it’s a really cool effect!

I decided to use the yellow and blue panel for the card though. To start with, I trimmed down the panel to 4″x5.25″ and adhered it to a light grey card base. To finish the card I needed something to go on top of it, but what?

I decided to stamp up some of the flowers and leaves from the Stitched Bloom set on coloured card stock. I used thecoordinating diecut to cut these out and then layered some of them up. I also cut out the ‘LOVE‘ out of coloured card stock, in coordinating colour scheme with the rest of the card.

12 Weekends of Christmas part 2

Hello, hello!

Today’s post is the second instalment of my ’12 Weekends of Christmas’ series. If you missed the first one, click HERE to check it out. I’m also painfully aware I’m cutting it MEGA close as technically there is only 25hrs left of the weekend here in Poland at the time of publishing…! But onwards and upwards, right?

I’m still on cardmaking as that’s what I need most of at Christmas time. The cards I made for this post are so easy to mass-produce, yet look like you have spent time and effort on them. Which everyone appreciates when it comes to handmade cards, right?

The first five cards are done with just stamping and the other five have diecut details added, but I’ve used the same stamp set for all ten: Filled With Joy from MFT Stamps.

Let’s start with the more simple design. I got ten white card based cut, scored and folded, then set five of these aside. I use Neenah Classic Crest 110lb card stock for a sturdy card base. Next step was picking out the ink colours and I’ve gone for Distress Oxide here: Mowed Lawn, Cracked Pistachio, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple.

OBVI I used my MISTI for these, because #duh 💁‍♀️ Placing the ‘Joy’ stamp in it I worked my way through the colours. Although you may have noticed that the images are not ‘solid’, but rather brushed/streaky. You get this look by dragging the ink pad across the stamp instead of dabbing it. It’s a quick way to get a slightly different look to the traditional, solid stamped one.

I did this one by one, on all five cards, starting with Mowed Lawn. This is such a gorgeous green colour.

Moving on to Cracked Pistachio, I did the same thing, and making sure the stamp overlapped a little on the first green stamped image.

Before moving on to the Mustard Seed Ink, I let the layers dry a little as it’s a lot lighter.

As the fourth colour, Spiced Marmalade, is darker again, there was no need to wait before getting on with it.

It was the same with the fifth and last colour, Candied Apple. I did use my Lawn Fawn Stamp shammy in between each colour too.

To finish these cards off, I stamped ‘Wishing you and yours’ in black ink at the top of each card. This is one of the sentiments that are part of the stamp set.

Such simple design, yet full of impact thanks to the brushed look and different colours. They are also true one-layer cards, which is another thing I struggle with. I’m usually all about the layers and dimensions but when you have to post off lots of cards, it’s so much easier with flat ones so you don’t have to weigh them all individually at the post office or risk not putting enough postage on.

The next five cards are done quite similarly, with the same ‘Joy’ stamp, only I’ve only used the green ink, Mowed Lawn, and the red one, Candied Apple.

The green is both at the top and the bottom, and the red is closest to the middle.

The last ‘Joy’ is diecut, using the coordinating Filled with Joy Die-namics, out of Brushed Gold card stock, also from MFT Stamps.

To finish off the sentiment these all have a banner across it that says ‘Sending you lots of‘ to make it say ‘Sending you lots of joy’. This extra bit of sentiment is heat embossed in WOW! Embossing Powder in Metallic Rich Gold regular.

Most of the banners are done in black card stock, I mostly use Lawn Fawn’s Black Licorice, as it’s a lovely smooth card stock.

But just to change it up a little, one is done in white. That one ended up looking nicer than I imagined and if I do more of these cards, I’ll do a few more with the white banner.

I toyed with the idea of heat embossing the last ‘Joy‘ in Gold Tinsel from Ranger but as it would have been done directly on the card base, I didn’t. I find that heat embossing more solid images warps the card stock, which isn’t a problem when you glue a panel down to a card base. However, doing it directly to the card base would potentially warp it so that it won’t stand up properly. And ain’t nobody got the time for that!
