Bouquet of Roses card for my beautiful mother

Hello and Happy Mother’s Day to everyone who celebrates today!

I have a bright and happy card for my mother to show you in today’s post. I have used one of my favorite Lil’Inker Designs stamp set for this card, Bouquet of Roses along with it’s coordinating diecut.

To begin with I got some Strathmore Bristol Vellum card stock out and dusted it with my anti static tool, I prefer the little cushion one as I feel it covers the card stock better. I stamped it up with VersaMark ink, sprinkled the embossing powder of choice: Antique Gold from Altenew. I heat embossed the image and set it aside to cool while I picked out my Zig Clean Color markers.

While I had my heatgun and embossing powder out, I decided to quickly stamp up a sentiment from the stamp set that says ‘For my Beautiful Mother’, on a slim strip of leftover Strathmore Bristol Vellum card stock. This was set aside for later card assembly.

I decided to use bright and happy colours for the flowers, yellows, pinks and purples are always springy and cheerful so I used a range of those to colour them in. For the leaves and stems I used greens and yellow-greens. Once everything was coloured in and dry, I cut it out using the coordinating diecut with my BigShot. I also cut out another shape out of foam sheet to add to the back of it, before adding to the card base. I like using foam sheet and the coordinating diecut to get a stable layer for the image.

For the cardbase I have used Neenah Classic Crest #110 card stock, cut in half, scored and folded. I lined the left side of it with some gold glitter washi tape and for the background I used more of the Strathmore Bristol card stock to do a light ombré watercolour wash. It’s done with a magenta colour from the 36-pack Gansai Tambi water colour pack. I also splattered some gold on it to bring in all the gold accents.

Once the background was dry, it didn’t take long to put the card together. The sentiment strip got pierced and threaded with some gold string, which I also tied into a bow and around the stems of the bouquet to look like it was the message tag that came with the flowers. Then the whole thing was added to the card base, which had the water coloured background added to it by now, and a slim strip of foam tape was added under the sentiment strip to keep it in place. All done!

Soft gray and pinks with Lil’Inkers Bouquet of Roses for a GD gig!

Hi and welcome back to CaCaCraft!

Today I have the great pleasure of being a guest designer for the Inspired By All the Little Things Challenge! Thank you guys for having me, I loved the inspiration photo so much and those colours just spoke to me right away.  Isn’t it gorgeous??

With this inspiration photo in mind, I have a soft pink card with gray compliments for you. As you might know, if this isn’t your first time seeing my work, I am having a bit of a love-affair with cover plates at the moment. I just love them! They add interest to a background without much faff, no colouring or weird gluing jobs. What’s not to love??

For this card I have used a Lil’Inkers Cover Up Die called Stitched Quatrefoil and a stamp set I really couldn’t pass up when it was released: Bouquet of Roses stamp and coordinating diecut. I also have the Wreath of Roses with its coordinating diecut.

Using my beloved MISTI I stamped up the Bouquet of Roses with Copic friendly ink, Memento Tuxedo Black, on Neenah Classic Crest 110# card stock and coloured it in using warm grays and soft pinks. As well as greens for the stalks and browns for the twine around the stems. You can get a great starter pack of Copics, many of the ones I have used to colour this image with are included in it, with this link.

Getting my BigShot out I cut out the flowers out with it’s coordinating diecut, and I also ran the Cover Up Plate through it on a light grey card stock, this is made with Fog card stock from Simon Says Stamp. To compliment the light gray panel, I chose a darker one, Lawn Fawn Narwhal card stock, for the card base.

I wasn’t able to resist using foam tape on the back of the background piece so I used that to adhere it to the card base. The twine is wrapped around the whole thing and tied in a bow but next time I think I will make a “canal” in the foam tape for the twine as the one I used for this card is quite bulky.

To finish off the card, I glued down the flower bouquet with a liquid glue pen rather than using foam tape. I’m not sure it was the best decision though, next time I will use the foam tape I think. I also added a ‘Hello’ diecut, also from Lil’Inker. This is cut out of a Tonic Studios card stock called Pink Chiffon and I think it works so well with the colours of the flowers. This one I did use foam tape to add though.

Now, of course I could have stopped here.. buuuuuut I didn’t… even with the extra texture and interest from the cover up die, I decided to add more by using Nuvo Jewel Drops in Rose Water from Tonic Studios which I dabbed directly on the card stock in a pattern. Once that was dry, the card was done!

I have used compensated affiliate links to various online shops (MFT Stamps, Tonic Studios and amongst others) where possible in this post, all other links are purely for helping you find the items I have used because I love them. If you use one of my affiliate links and end up buying something, I get a small commission directly from the company at no extra cost to you. Thank you so much in advance if you choose to support me like this, I appreciate it a lot and it really does made a difference so please do consider using mine and other crafter’s affiliate links when you do buy something. Thanks again!

That’s it from me for today, thank you for stopping by and thank you again for having me Inspired By All The Little Things!
