Colourful news, collaborations and lots of shenanigans!

Hi guys, how are you today? All good, I hope. I’ve got lots to cover today, so let’s dive right in!

First of all, let’s talk about a fun collaboration between Picket Fence Studios and MFT Stamps! As part of this collaboration MFT Stamps generously sent me some inks to play with, and I mixed these with some fun Picket Fence goodies for a couple of colourful cards.

My first card is super simple to make, I used a small tree stamp from the Joyeux Noel set and on a white card base I stamped this repeatedly using six of the inks: Lemon Chiffon, Limelight, Summer Splash, Cotton Candy, Grape Jelly and Cement Gray.

I did this in three rows and then on top of this I stamped up ‘May your holiday be full of CHEER’ in Black Hybrid ink from Picket Fence.

Naturally, I couldn’t leave it simple, so I practically bedazzled the cards with gems from several gem mixes. Colour coordinated, of course.

For my second card, I used one of my fave stencils from Picket Fence: the Soar Butterfly stencil! I incidentally used the exact colours as on the first card, only this time I ink blended them using Life Changing Blender Brushes.

On the first card you can see how vibrant the colours are, and on the second you can see how easily they blend, for a soft look.

To make the butterfly stand out better, I cut out a mask and ink blended Cement Gray around this. The mask is done by tracing the outline of the stencil on paper, and fussy cutting this out. It was done on cheap copy paper, rather than masking paper. Once cut out, you place the stencil back over the colourful ink blending, making sure it’s in the right spot, then place the mask on top of this and ink blend around.

I have used a white gel pen to add in the antennas, because they did not stay in place. This panel was then trimmed down to 4″x5.25″ and adhered to a white card base with the help of foam tape. On top of this I have splattered some gold water colour, which you can get by mixing a small amount of Golden Rose paper glaze with water until you have a very liquid consistency.

No card is complete without a sentiment, and I used the ‘Friends make the world beautiful’ from the Fancy Friendship Sentiments set. To keep the card looking cohesive, I used Summer Splash ink and then used the coordinating diecut to cut it, as well as another two pieces out. These are layered up and adhered to the card, using Nuvo Deluxe adhesive.

The final touch, because it wasn’t shimmery enough *cough, cough, I have an embellishment problem* I added some gems from the Sands Of Time mix. I love this one!

In other news, it’s also Day 2 of Feature Day for LDRS! The theme is Fall Favorites but as I don’t have much stuff from LDRS yet, I winged it a bit and made a floral card and then plonked ‘Happy Fall’ on it to make it autumn-esque. Typically, I have a package coming next week with the new October Release stuff!! I can’t wait to try out the Perfect Petals layering dies!

In fairness to me, I’m still having summer vibes in my neck of the woods. It’s regularly +25C and glorious sunshine here, and lots of flowers are still blooming so it’s hard to get into ‘fall mode’. Plus I’m a summer gal through and through…

I used the Layered Poinsettia diecut and cut out LOADS of bits, in Bristol Vellum paper as I planned on doing lots of ink blending, with a splash of water colouring/ink smooshing. I wanted to try an idea to add colour to the bits, and that was to basically smoosh the pieces into the ink pads to get them covered with colour. It worked much better than ink smooshing actually, and left the colour much more vivid.

For the leaves I have used a mix of Key Lime Pie, Olive Branch and Evergreen. The little middle pieces for the flowers were done with Dan-D-Lion.

For the poinsettia leaves I did use Life Changing Blender Brushes, and I used Lipstick Jungle and Tickled Pink. I mixed and matched though, so that the layered pieces didn’t have the same colour on them. Hence why I cut out so many.

All the pieces were then layered up together using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

While my flowers and leaves were drying, I cut out a panel of white card stock using the Diagonal Stitched Postage Frame Slimline dies, and this is my base for the card.

To finish it off I stamped up ‘Happy’ using Olive Branch ink on this panel, and I also cut out the word ‘fall’ using the Chloe Lowercase Alpha dies from a piece of card stock I dabbed Dan-D-Lion ink on.

So yeah…. it’s got Spanish autumn vibes, but I did have to use lots to creative discretion here to get it to work with the theme. Maybe it was a bit of a cop-out but hey, it sure made a pretty card!

For Feature Day 1 I made another floral card, only this time I used the Potted Poinsettia stamp set and coloured it in with Copics.

Thankfully this stamp set has a coordinating diecut too, so I used that to cut the image out and on the back of this I used LOTS of foam squares to pop it up.

The background is done by heat embossing the new Luxurious Chocolate embossing powder from WOW! Embossing on strips of Superior Smooth card stock. This is WOW! Embossings own white card stock and it is, as the name says, ultra smooth and crisp white. It’s really great for heat embossing!

On the pre-cut strips I dabbed my Embossing ink really well to make sure they were coated, then I sprinkled the Luxurious Chocolate embossing powder over them, tapped off the excess and then used the heat tool to set them.

These were then adhered to a trimmed down piece of card stock, with the help of my grid mat to make sure the spacing was even. This piece was then adhered to an actual card base, and then the Poinsettias were added on top.

The final touch was to stamp up Happy Holidays, from the Potted Poinsettias stamp set, in black ink on a skinny white banner. This was trimmed down to be even smaller than the background piece and then adhered on top of the flowers.

The last thing I’ve got to share today is a fab promotion from Pinkfresh Studio!

From today until the 4th of Nov you can take 15% off standalone slimline stencils using the code SLIMST15. It’s only valid on in-stock products, while supplies last. Don’t forget to use the code at checkout.

You can see how I have used some of the stencils in the photo below, stencils really are one of my favorite things to work with. They are versatile, great value for money and so much fun to play with!

Well, I think that’s it for today. What do you think? Is this format preferred over separate blog post showing each card on it’s own? I’d love to hear what you think and what you want to see from me so I can provide content that you will enjoy.

Whimsy Stamps 31 Nights Of Halloween Collaboration

Hi guys!

Today I am collaborating with Whimsy Stamp for their annual 31 Nights Of Halloween event, that runs from 1-31st of October.

I have a VIDEO up on my YouTube channel, and you can find more information on the Whimsy Stamps blog, as well as instructions on how to enter the giveaways. There are $300 dollars in gift vouchers up for grabs!

For my cards, I have used the Fuzzy Spiders stamp set, as well as the Spider Web Frame Rubber Stamp. I have done heat embossing on both cards to create a puffy sticker look for the spiders, with the Ebony Embossing Powder.

On the card with the Spider Web Frame Rubber Stamp, I have also ink blended a background in a spooky, but cute, look. I don’t do scary, so I stick to cute Halloween cards. From the middle it’s Twisted Citron, Salvaged Patina, Prize Ribbon, Wilted Violet and Black Soot. These are blended with Life Changing Blender Brushes from Picket Fence Studios.

It’s finished off with some Black Soot Distress Oxide spray splatters and gold splatters, as well as discontinued Glow Drops from Tonic.

Check out the video for full details, and to see the other card! Thank you to Whimsy Stamps for inviting me for a collaboration, I love how my cards turned out and hope you do too! Thanks for stopping by today and see you soon again!

PinkFresh Studios Inks in The House!

Hello, hello!

The ink-oholic Erica here with a very colourful post! I have had the total delight of being sent the entire range of luscious big ink pads from PinkFresh Studios and I HAD to swatch them before doing anything else! Ok, so in all honesty, the first thing I did was dance around like a dizzy emu, whilst clapping like a demented seal and squealing like a happy pig rolling round in mud! Now, that’s a mental image for you, isn’t it?? LOL! Sufficient to say, I was A TAD excited.

Ok, so the swatches are not perfect but, as mentioned, I was a bit excited. And I was still excited while I was stamping them up. I mean, the idea is to see the colours, these are staying in my craft room so I’m not sending these to anyone.

The clever swatching die and stamps are from Waffle Flower. You can find the Swatch Tag Die, Color For Ink Pads and Combo Swatch stamps separate too. These were just perfect for these inks as they come in families of four shades of each colour. You can get the Big Ink Pad Bundle or if you don’t have a huge amount of space in your craft room, they also come in a handy little Mini Cubes Bundle.

For my swatches, I’ve used I cut out loads of tags out of Neenah Solar White #110 card stock, as I wanted the swatches to be sturdy. Using the Mini MISTI, I then stamped up the swatching bit with Detail Black ink from PinkFresh Studio.

The first colour family I did was the yellows: Lemon Whip, Sunshine, Sweet Mustard and Marigold. These also come in handy Mini Cubes, called Rise And Shine.

Next up we have the peachy family: Peach Fuzz, Apricot, Clementine and Persimmon. These also come in handy Mini Cubes, aptly named Indian Summer.

Oooh, these pinks and reds have me all gooey: Coral Reef, Passion Fruit, Berrylicious and Candy Apple. They also come in Mini Cubes, with the perfect name Heartbeat.

Pretty in all the shades of pink: Ballet Slipper, Sparkling Rose, Bubble Gum and Raspberry Bliss. These also come in Mini Cubes, with the magic name Fairy Dust!

The purples are stunning: Soft Lilac, Candy Violet, Lavender and Royal Kiss. Of course, these also come in Mini Cubes and I want you to read this with your very best French accent: Soul Of Provence.

As a blue kind of gal, I’m loving these: Slumber, Blue Jay, Sapphire and Stargazer. Mini Cubes are available as well, with the dreamy name Starry Nights.

I do love all shades of blue but these have me swooning: Sky Blue, Summer Shower, Seaside and Storm. These I could easily have in both big pads and Mini Cubes, Morning Sky, just because I love them.

These dreamy teals are to die for: Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine, Mermaid Cove and Tidal Pond. Of course these gems, called Island Oasis, come in Mini Cubes as well.

Ga-ga for green? No worries, these beauties have you covered: Mint, Meadow, Emerald City and Evergreen. Mini Cubes, too, of course, called Garden Stroll.

More of a spring green kind of person? Don’t feel left out, as these will surely give you your green fix: Fresh Pear, Grassy Knoll, Key Lime and Olive. Do KNOLL worry, these come in Mini Cubes too, Over The Hill.

Looking for natural neutrals? Warm Buff, Doe, Gathered Twigs and Espresso takes card of that. In Mini Cubes too, with the delicious name Wild Truffles.

No collection is complete without some steely greys, right? Misty Coast, Rocky Slope, Metropolis and Licorice cover all your bases. In big pads and Mini Cubes, naturally, with the funky name Urban Raincoat.

With all the swatches done, I added them to a ring binder to keep them all in one place. I have already consulted them to make a card, actually. Thanks to the swatches it was super easy to pick out some bright and happy colours for the Pop-Out Rainbow stamp.

With the help of the Mini MISTI, this card took less than 10 minutes to make. SO easy, and cheerful!

I finished it off with a sentiment from the Floral Notes stamp set, stamped up with Black Detail ink. That sentiment was just perfect for a rainbow card! And perhaps a sequin… or ten. Eh, I might have gone a little bit overboard but hey, it works.

Well, with that, I’m all done for today but I do have an unboxing (I bought a LOT of stuff) and ink swatching video over on my YouTube channel as well, if you want to see the swatching in action.

As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, PinkFresh very generously sent me the entire range of inks to play with but I purchased a huge amount of stuff from them as well. Including that adorable Pop-Out Rainbow stamp, which I have had my eye on for so long! I want to reassure you that I will only ever create with stuff I love and that inspires me. I don’t know about you, but I can’t work with stuff that I don’t like, it just dries up my mojo.

I have used some compensated affiliate links to (mostly) PinkFresh Studios in this post, for your convenience, at no extra cost to you whatsoever. Any earnings I get from these affiliate links go straight back into stamps… erm… (if The Man reads this, that was an auto-correct! I swear, baby!!) the running of my blog, YouTube channel and Instagram. Thank you so much if you choose to support me by using these links, I really appreciate the support and encouragement!

PFS August Release | Stella Puppy Cards

Hi guys!!

Where are my fellow crazy dog people at? In this month’s Picket Fence Studio release there is a super cute puppy stamp called Stella Puppy.

It looks so much like my sweet Lab boy Hercules, who we lost back in 2016 after a very short, but ferocious health issue battle. Less than six weeks after that, we lost our remaining Lab, called Molly, in a tragic accident. The cards I got from friends after we lost them meant the world to me, because losing a fur baby, never mind two, is one of the most gut wrenching things you can ever go through.

I’ve made two card, doing my thing where they are similar but slightly different. On the first card I stamped the Stella Puppy up with my MISTI and Black Hybrid ink directly onto a card base of Neenah card stock. After setting the ink with my WOW! Embossing heat tool, I got to work with Copics. I don’t have a photo of the first one, but here is the second one I did.

I wanted to add a rainbow on the background but I don’t have a rainbow stencil *insert shocked gasps and wide-eyed looks here* I know, it’s shocking. So, what to do? Well, I made my own! First I cut out a mask and added over most of the doggie, then I used a small bowl to cut out a curved shape out of card stock. This I used as a stencil/mask and ink blended Ink On 3 Atelier Inks in Bee Sting Yellow, Goddess Green, Peacock Blue, My Jam Purple and Marilyn Red with Life Changing Blender Brushes.

My brushes are a little bit over-saturated and need a spa day, and I should have used a new mask for each colour, as they blended into each other BUT it did also give me an extra teal colour between green and blue. The last bit, in the top left corner, I should have skipped because I feel like it got too dark, but oh well.

On white card stock I stamped up some sentiments from the Stella Puppy set with Black Hybrid ink. These I trimmed down as much as I could and then added over some areas where I wasn’t happy the colouring and ink blending had overlapped.

The final touch was to add some Glossy Accents to the little nose and set it aside to dry.

On my second card, for which there is a video on my YouTube channel, I tried applying what I learnt from the first card. With some success and some more issues. Card making is never straightforward in my craft room, lol!

For this, I decided to stamp up the Stella Puppy on a separate piece of Copic friendly card stock, with my Mini MISTI with the Black Hybrid Ink, colour it in and then fussy cut it out. I used slightly different colour Copics on this one and I think the depth is better, than the first one, so that was good. You can see the difference in the photo above.

Second, I used a sheet of acetate to make my “stencil”, instead of card stock. The reasoning for this is that with acetate I can just wipe off the ink, and have less contamination. Good start. Less good execution. I used a, what I thought was, permanent marker to draw the shape of the curve of the rainbow. Well, it was less permanent and more smudgy than I realised, which led to a slightly dirty looking yellow bit. I trimmed off the part with the marker on it, and carried on.

I used the same Atelier Inks on this one, in the same order, after wiping my Life Changing Blender Brushes on kitchen towels. I also used a lighter hand with the inks.

With the negative part of the stencil/mask I was able to add more green to the background, without mixing in the blue. This is better explained in the video, but I didn’t add enough green or moved the stencil/mask too far when I did the blue, which left a gap. By covering up the blue with the negative bit, I was able to add the green without contaminating the blue. Pretty smart, huh?

On this card, I stamped up the sentiments, again from Stella Puppy, directly onto the card base with Black Hybrid ink. Then I adhered the fussy cut puppy with liquid glue and added the Glossy Accent to the nose.

There is another sweet pet stamp in the release called Your Friend Dear. I’ve done the same thing with this stamp: basically the same layout, but different looks.

This was the one I started with, and I actually stopped midway because I was not very happy with the colouring of the dog. I couldn’t make it work!

In order to get me out of that funk, I stamped it up again and tried another colour combination, this time with Warm Greys. This worked better and I finished off the card with a very colourful girl, and a simple sentiment from Levels Of Friendship. And the Glossy Accent again.

With this one being a success, and also my meh-ness about the first one having died down a little, I thought I’d give it another go. I’m very glad I did because I did actually manage to turn it around!

To make sure this one was different than the first one, with all that white space, I cut a mask out and placed over the image. Over this I used the Fancy Kaleidoscope stencil and Distress Oxide inks in Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick and a hint of Abandoned Coral. They created this gorgeous glow around the image and I love how it turned out!

The final touch for this card was to stamp up the sentiment that comes with Your Friend Dear, in Black Hybrid ink and with that, it was all done. The last two cards are not in it, but there is a video for one of the rainbow puppy cards on my YouTube channel.

The August release from Picket Fence Studio is now available and if you shop any of these links, which are compensated affiliate links to various companies, I will get a small commission directly from the company it’s affiliated with. It won’t cost you anything extra at all, but the potential earnings from these links will keep my blog, YouTube and Instagram fresh and fun. Thank you so much if you choose to support me this way.

Picket Fence Studios June Release!

Hello, hello!

It’s the 14th, which means a new release is available from Picket Fence Studios! You can find the entire release HERE if you can’t wait to see what awesomeness is now for sale in the shop.

I have two cards to show you today, both made with the After The Storm stamp set. Both are coloured with Copic markers, but in true Erica style, both are different. I started out by stamping up the images I wanted to use with Hybrid Black Ink, and then I set it a little by using my WOW! Heat tool on it.

I wanted to make the clouds dark, ominous and look like they were ready to unleash some thunder on my first card. This look was achieved by mixing Cool Greys and some blues, as can be seen on my little tester piece above. I also have a video for this over on my YouTube channel if you want to see it more in-depth.

Once the clouds were done, I used some rainbow colours to colour in the… erm… rainbow. Like, duh. Of course I used rainbow colours! What else?? The markers I used can be seen in the photo above.

To match the rainbow on the image, I wanted to add colour to the word ‘rainbow’ in the sentiment too. With the help of my Mini MISTI, some PostIt Tape and the Atelier Inks from Ink On 3 this was a breeze!

From left to right: Marilyn Red, Marigold Orange, Bee Sting Yellow, Goddess Green, Peacock Blue and My Jam Purple. In other words, the exact colour order as the rainbow itself. Pretty neat little details, right?

To add more drama to the card, I cut out a mask and placed over the image, then I ink blended some leftover Chipped Sapphire ink onto the background. The ink that was left on my brush from another project, was just enough to add some depth. I didn’t need to get the ink pad out again. Cool, huh?

Because I’m addicted to shimmery things, I had to add some gold splatters to the card too. This I did by mixing up some Golden Rose Paper Glaze with water and splattering over the background. I removed the mask first though, as I wanted the gold all over.

This works so well! Paper Glaze really is such a versatile product! The last thing I needed to do was add the sentiment strip and the card was done.

Time to move on to card no2!

For this card I used Cool Greys again, but started with C5. On card no1 I used C7 as the darkest colour. I also created lots of texture on the clouds on this one by dabbing C00 LOTS all over the finished coloured clouds.

This rainbow got more depth and detail added to it, but using two shades of each colour. I also used the same ones, and a few extra, for the umbrella. The wellies in the image I did in a dark teal as I have a pair in that colour.

The bench was coloured in with browns, and I added a little bit of a shadow under it too. Because the sentiment was already stamped up, once the colouring was done, the card was done.

Easy peasy! I’m getting better at leaving white space and not feeling the need to fill in every single little gap with colour. Which one is your favourite? I must admin that I do love the gold sparkle on the first one and the dramatic clouds, but I like the colours used on the second one too.

Well, that’s it from me for today, but I will be back tomorrow with more cards and inspiration! If you can’t wait to shop the new release, I’d be so grateful if you would consider using the compensated affiliate links provided in this blog post. They do not cost you anything extra at all, if you do use them, the company it’s affiliated with, Picket Fence Studios for the most part in this blog post, pays me a commission directly. Anything I make from these, go directly into the running of my blog, YouTube channel and Instagram fresh and fun for you.

Flutters & Blooms release from Catherine Pooler

Hi guys!

Today is the day, the latest release from Catherine Pooler, Flutters & Blooms, is here!

There are several bundles to choose from but if you can’t pick just one, there is a Flutters & Blooms bundle available at a discounted price too.

As usual, I have gone nuts with the cards.. so many colour combinations and options! To start with I grabbed the Big Thanks stamp and ALL. THE. INKS! No joke.. I had almost all of my inks out and played with colour combinations and ombré looks.

My first card is made with two shades of each colour. This is easy peasy with the help of a stamping tool. I do love my MISTI’s. I stamped one colour per letter of the ‘thank‘, and then I masked off the area already stamped before moving on to the next one. When I finished with one row, I turned the panel over and did the same thing on the bottom part of the panel, but upside down.

The colours I have used are shown in the photo and are Limoncello, Tiara, Garden Party, Lime Rickey, Aquatini, All That Jazz, It’s A Boy, Suede Shoes, It’s A Girl and Party Dress. On the upside down K I used Coral Cabana and Rockin’ Red but I decided it was too dark.

To finish this card off I simply stamped the ‘you’ from the Big Thanks set in the middle with black ink. Easy peasy!

My second card is similar, but the ‘Thank’ is in the middle and I have used only blue shades of ink for it. It’s one per letter, and I did it the same way as the first one. Stamped one letter, masked if off and moved on to the next ink. From left to right: It’s A Boy, Something Borrowed, Fiesta Blue, Suede Shoes and Juniper Mist.

On this one I stamped the ‘you’ at an angle under the Thank bit. I also added some Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh with Glossy Accents .

For the next card I have again used the Big Thanks stamp, but this time with three shades of green inks to create a bit of an ombré-ish look. I started out with Melon Ice, then Garden Party and finally a little bit of Lime Rickey. For this one I also added the extra ‘S’ from the stamp set.

This I then cut out using a rectangular stitched die, and added this to a white card base. With black ink I stamped up ‘For being you’ to make the sentiment say ‘Thanks for being you’. I did make a video for these cards, I’ll try getting it up on my YouTube channel as soon as possible.

I have also used the Boxes Of Blooms stamp set. All my cards for this release are very CAS/Clean And Simple. Or at least they seem that way to me as I really struggle with white spaces.

For this card I stamped up one of the images from the Outside Your Window directly onto a card base. I used Over Coffee and Icing On The Cake for this to create a wooden look.

The flowers are stamped up with Tiara and the stems with Lime Rickey. I had the help of my Mini MISTI for this as I’m rubbish at free-hand stamp layering stamps. The sentiment is also stamped up with Tiara.

While I had the brown inks out, I stamped up some of the flower boxes and cut these, and the flowers, out with the coordinating diecut. I adhered these to the card with some foam tape to raise them up.

Well, that’s it from me for today! I hope you enjoyed these cards and found some inspiration here. If you fancy a little something-something from this release, I have used compensated affiliate links in the post and below, for your convenience. If you shop using these links, I get a small commission from the company directly at no extra cost to you whatsoever. I really appreciate the support and encouragement this gives me so thank you in advance if you choose to support me like this.

Concord & 9th Feature Friday part 3!

Hi guys!

I’m back with another Concord & 9th Feature Friday post today, and this week we have the Modern Frame bundle and Forever Flower bundle in the spotlight. I made quite a few cards with these goodies so I’m going to jump right in!

Recently I have been totally obsessed with making rainbow backgrounds, using coloured card stock, and I have ended up with some 20+ of them. Even when I use a few for projects, I end up making another couple just for fun.

Anyway, on my first card I decided to use one. With the help of my MISTI, I simply stamped ‘Thanks for being you, you’re amazing’ in black ink. This sentiment I put together using the words that come in the Forever Flower stamp set.

The sentiment is put together with a combination of the ones that come in the Forever Flower stamp set.

I also added the heart from the set, and to finish it off, I added some Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

As far as sentiments go, this one is pretty lovely!

My second card is also using the Forever Flower stamp set, and also the coordinating diecut. Again, with the help of my MISTI (I would be lost without it!!) I stamped up the flower twice. I used the same inks, but in opposite order to create slightly different looks. The inks are from Catherine Pooler and are Limoncello, Tiara and Orange Peel.

I do like them both but my favourite is the one with the lighter centre.

First I did Limoncello all over, then I added some Tiara and finally some Orange peel. To soften the edges of the colours, I dabbed the two darker inks onto the stamp with a Life Changing Blender Brush. I then cut them both out using the coordinating diecut and set these aside for the time being.

In order to make the colours really pop, I decided to stamp up the Brushed Stripes background with black ink, directly onto a card base. It took a couple of turns with the MISTI to get a good coverage, but that’s the beauty of the MISTI, right?

After cleaning up the background stamp I popped the card back into the MISTI and stamped up the sentiment. This one is from Modern Frame stamp set and I did it in a mix of Tiara and Orange Peel.

The next couple of cards have used the same diecuts, from the Modern Frame dies, but in different ways. The frame die itself cuts out an actual frame, and then also the shape inside the frame. Does that make sense? I hope once you see the cards it will become clearer.

This one is using the negative cutout from the Modern Frame diecut set. There is no stamping involved at all.

I started out by cutting out the Modern Frame out of linen textured card stock, in a range from light grey, to black, to dark blue and light blue. It doesn’t photograph very well, but the texture really gives it a luxury feel.

This photo is taken in direct sunlight so you can really see the texture.

Because the shape of the Modern Frame isn’t a perfectly angled hexagon, but rather slightly wonky, I had to layer the pieces up on the card stock with some white space between them. Originally I wanted them to be touching and completely covering the card base but I actually really like how it turned out!

The final touch for this one was to cut out the ‘Hello’ from the Forever Flower diecuts. Once in gold mirror card stock and three times in white card stock. These are then layered up and simply added to the card and it was done.

This card is using the actual Modern Frame cutouts, layered on top of each other, as a focal point.

This card came together easily with the leftover Frames from the last card. I just arranged them in colour order, placed them on top of the card base, then covered the whole thing with Press’n’Seal to keep the pieces in place. After turning the whole thing over, I added some liquid glue, Lawn Fawn’s glue tube, to the pieces and then pressed it back onto the card base.

A simple ‘Happy Birthday’ in black ink on white card stock, trimmed down to a slim banner was the only other thing I added. So easy, right? This would work well as a masculine birthday card, I think.

The next card is also using one of my striped background pieces and the entire Modern Frame bundle.

This time I cut out the Modern Frame diecut out of gold mirror card stock, twice. I also did a lot of the foliage in the same card stock. The flowers are from the same colour card stock as the background has in it.

I should perhaps have used a background with lighter colours in the middle, as that’s where my sentiment was going to go. Memo to self for future use! This sentiment is from the Modern Frame stamp set.

After faffing about with the layout for this one, I did the Press’n’Seal trick again and turned it over to add the liquid glue. This trick works so well, and saves so much time!

With ready made background, this design can be adapted to the recipient with different colours and sentiments.

The final card is using the Forever Flower bundle, both the stamp set and the coordinating diecuts. On mint coloured card stock, I stamped up the Forever Flower in Mountain Mist and then added a little bit of Volcano Lake to darken it a little. These inks are from Altenew and come in a bundle called Sea Shore. They come both in big sized Oval pads and Mini Cubes.

On the card base, I stamped up the dotty stamp in Mountain Mist all around the edges to give it a patterned paper look. After I trimmed down the flower panel with the help of a stitched rectangle diecut from Lawn Fawn, I ran it through my diecutting machine again. This time with the ‘dear’ word diecut from the Forever Flower diecut set.

I also cut the ‘dear’ out of Sticky Note, Sunflower, Mermaid and Peacock card stock. With the extra colours I paper pieced the letters in to make it colourful. The ‘hello’ is cut out of Mermaid and Peacock and layered up slightly off-centre and then adhered at an angle above the ‘dear’.

A few Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh finished off this card!

Concord & 9th Feature Friday part 2!

Hello everyone and happy Feature Friday!

Today I am back with another blog post featuring the February release from Concord & 9th. If you missed the first one, where we focused on the Meadow Blossom bundle and the Brushed Stripes Background Stamp, you can find that post HERE.

img_3132

The stars of this post are the Stitched Blooms Bundle and this month’s Turnabout stamp Blooms. The bundle also come as separate pieces, with the Stitched Blooms stamp and Stitched Blooms dies. The dies have a fabulous stitched pattern that is just gorgeous!

I have made quite a few cards with these goodies so let’s get to it!

img_3278

My first cards is super simple and elegant, if I may say so myself. I simply used the Stitched Bloom diecut on white card stock, twice to get a full coverage. After heat embossing one of the sentiments from the Say Hello stamp set on a strip of vellum, I wrapped this around the panel and then adhered the whole thing to a white card base.

img_3220

I wasn’t done with the Stitched Bloom diecut, and used it on a piece of water colour card stock. Then coloured it in with Atelier Ink re-inkers I had mixed with Liquid Pixie Dust. It adds sparkle to the colours and look fabulous. It’s not the easiest thing to photograph properly, but I tried.

img_3279

The colours I used for the colouring are Bee Sting Yellow, Marilyn Red and Goddess Green. I have a plastic palette where I’ve dripped a few drops of each colour, and into these, I added a drop or two of the Liquid Pixie Dust. By adding in the shimmer into the colours, I kill two birds with one stone and only need to do one bit of colouring! Genius, right??

img_3217

This card I wanted to keep quite simple as well, to keep the focus on the pattern and the colouring. I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the Stitched Bloom stamp set. I used Rich Gold WOW! Embossing powder, but heat embossed it twice to get a nice raised texture on it.

img_3213

I turned my attention to the Blooms Turnabout stamp next, and I went to town with stamping up some panels with different inks. All the inks I have used are from Altenew and naturally I had my MISTI for this part. On my first one I used pinks and light green. For the green I used only Bamboo, and for the pinks I used all four of the inks in the Cherry Blossom family. I have the Ovals but they also come in Mini Cubes.

img_3281

My second panel was bright and vivid, with yellows and light turquoise/blues. The yellows are from the Pocketful Of Sunshine, these also come in Ovals and Mini Cubes as well. The blue/turquoise inks are Sea Glass and Ocean Waves from the Cool Summer Nights. Ovals and Minis as with all of them.

img_3280

The last panel is more like a fabric pattern than ‘natural’ colours but I love how it turned out! I also tried something different with this panel and that was embossing three of the turns of the flower part with clear embossing powder.

img_3282

The colours are from the Cool Summer Nights family for the leaves, and the flowers are done in grey from the Rock Collection set. I did the three lighter colours of the grey with the clear embossing over them to see what it looked like and it’s a really cool effect!

img_3285

I decided to use the yellow and blue panel for the card though. To start with, I trimmed down the panel to 4″x5.25″ and adhered it to a light grey card base. To finish the card I needed something to go on top of it, but what?

img_3215

I decided to stamp up some of the flowers and leaves from the Stitched Bloom set on coloured card stock. I used thecoordinating diecut to cut these out and then layered some of them up. I also cut out the ‘LOVE‘ out of coloured card stock, in coordinating colour scheme with the rest of the card.

Concord & 9th February Feature Friday! Part 1

Hi guys!

Today I am super excited to be sharing a card as one of the guest designers for Concord & 9th’s Feature Friday post. You can check out the other designers and their work on the C&9th Blog.

This Friday we are focusing on Meadow Blossom stamp and coordinating die as well as the Brushed Stripes Background stamp. You can also pick up the Meadow Blossom Combo at a discount, if like me you are not a fan of fussy cutting,

I stamped the Meadow Blossom up with Ink On 3 Blackout Ink, which is Copic friendly, directly on a card base. The base is made with Neenah #110 card stock to make sure it is sturdy. After picking out the Copics I wanted to use, I proceeded to colour it in.

With the image coloured in, it was time to use the Brushed Stripes background stamp but first I had to cover up the Meadow Blossom part. With the help of the coordinating diecut, I cut out a mask and placed over the image.

Armed with my MISTI, I stamped up the Brushed Stripes Background over the image using Bamboo ink from Altenew. It’s a fresh spring green colour and matched the colour of the leaves pretty well. Thanks to the mask being bigger than the image, it left a nice clean ‘aura’ around the flower cluster.

Instead of using the original MISTI, which still had the background stamp in it, to stamp up the sentiment, ‘Missing you, Friend‘, I grabbed my Mini MISTI and stamped it with Blackout Ink until the sentiment was solid. I still need to re-ink my pad so it took me three stamps but as I had the Mini MISTI it was no problem at all.

As a final flourish, I added some…. ok, ok, quite a few… April Crystals from Studio Katia. These I adhered with the glue tube from Lawn Fawn and then it was time to step away before I got any other ideas.

I have used quite a few compensated affiliate links in this post, but don’t worry, these don’t cost you any extra. If you shop using these, you are helping me strengthen my collaboration with the companies they are associated with. I also get a small commission from the company directly, at no extra cost to you whatsoever. Thank you in advance if you use these, I really appreciate the support and encouragement!

Picket Fence Studios January 2020 Release!!

Happy New Year and Happy Release Day from Picket Fence Studios! I’m currently in Phoenix, AZ, at Creativation and this month’s release is a little bit later than usual for this reason. The release is being introduced at Creativation so if you are here, come by the Picket Fence booth and say hi. I will also be doing the Make And Take in the Stamping Village, if you miss me in the Picket Fence or Ink On 3 booths.

This first release of 2020 is ginormous, as in GINORMOUS!! Over on my YouTube channel I will be showing off all the stuff and then make a couple of cards. As you do.

The cards I made for today’s post are made with the Barberton Daisy and A Bride’s Bouquet. Both are water coloured, but with different mediums, and came out total opposite.

The A Bride’s Bouquet card is heat embossed in Metallic Gold Rich from WOW! Embossing. First the Canson XL water colour card was treated with an anti-static tool (I like the bag kind) and then I stamped the image with the WOW! Embossing Pad with the help of my MISTI.

Once that was set with the heat gun, it was then coloured in using InkOn3 Atelier Ink re-inkers and one ink pad. I don’t have the Twiggy Brown re-inker yet so I used the ink pad to get the brown needed for the string around the bouquet and for the cotton buds to get some shape. The main colours are Bee Sting Yellow, Goddess Green and Peacock Blue. The green and blue I added together to get more depth and detail to the greenery.

I tried going for a soft, elegant look but, in true Erica-style, managed to mess it up at the last minute by adding too much Marilyn Red and Marigold Orange to some of the flowers. I tried dabbing it off but it’s still a bit too colourful for what I had in mind. Oh well, I will just have to try again!

To soften the look and add a spring-time feel, I have also added a soft green shadow around the bouquet. The final bit of ‘colouring’ was to add a touch of Liquid Pixie Dust on the cotton buds. It’s a wedding bouquet after all, the name A Bride’s Bouquet makes any guessing work totally redundant, lol.

The second card, with the Barberton Daisy stamp, is wild and colourful! The idea was to make something that definitely doesn’t exist in nature and I’d say I’ve achieved it, lol!

I stamped up the Barberton Daisy with Black Hybrid Ink on Canson XL water colour paper. I used the MISTI to make sure I got a good solid imprint and then coloured in the image using Daniel Smith water colours.

When the Daisy was colourful enough, I decided to splatter it with dark grey paint. Just to really drive home the abstract look I was after for this one. It’s one of those creations I’m not sure about if I’m totally honest. The finished result is actually wilder than I pictured it! Crazy, right?

To finish off the card I picked a sentiment from Seriously, Literally, Always.

I heat embossed the sentiment ‘You are an absolutely positively amazing human being’ in Opaque Bright White embossing powder from WOW! Embossing on black Licorice card stock from Lawn Fawn. I trimmed the strip down and glued it down flat with the glue tube, also from Lawn Fawn. I love that stuff!

Well, that’s it from me for today but I will be back tomorrow with more cards from this release!

If you want to check out the full release and perhaps pick up a thing or seven for yourself, THIS LINK will take you directly to Picket Fence Studios.
