For my project I decided to use the gorgeous Botan Peony stamp from Picket Fence Studios. I have been going gaga for this stamp since the first time I saw it!

I thought it would look fabulous to heat emboss the stamp in Metallic Copper regular and then colour the flower in with Gansai Tambi water colours.

Instead of going for traditional and natural colours, I went wild and abstract. A rainbow peony, who knew it worked?

While I was on a big colouring streak, I added grey to the background in a reverse backlit kind of way. As in darker around the flower and then fading out towards the edges of the panel.

To finish off the card it needed a sentiment, but I didn’t want something too big that would cover up the flower. So I stamped up ‘You are so worth celebrating’ from Anything-But-Basic Birthday Wishes by MFT Stamps on a slim banner diecut and heat embossed that in Metallic Gold Rich. The sentiment banner was added to the card with foam tape and then trimmed down. With that, the card was done!

But apparently I wasn’t. I got a dark grey envelope out and heat embossed it with the Botan PeonyBotan Peony along the bottom. For this part I used Opaque Bright White embossing powder to make it pop.

That’s it from me for today, but make sure to hop along to see more amazing projects!

  1. I have & love this Botan Peony stamp as well. I never thought of doing it in rainbow colours, though – it looks A-MA-ZING!! The copper embossing really sets it all off perfectly.

  2. I would never have thought to put those colours together on a flower stamp, but it works beautifully! I need to break out my Gansai Tambi watercolours and have a play! X

    1. I nearly didn’t do it, it felt very out of the box for me but I’m so glad I tried it as I love how it turned out too. It’s extra lovely when others like it to so thank you!

  3. Your card with just the rose gold embossing powder and that amazing Picket Fence stamp was gorgeous, and then you stepped it up a notch with all of the amazing color! Wowza!

    1. You know, I nearly left it like that because I really liked it with just the heat embossing too! The added colours really does kick it up a notch, though, don’t they?

    1. No need to be intimidated! I find bigger flowers easier to colour in because they are more forgiving so just throw caution to the wind and jump in! You will have so much fun with it!

    1. Thank you so much, Denise! I nearly left it was it was after heat embossing it, for a quick elegant card that would be enough, wouldn’t it??
