Catherine Pooler’s Tropical Treasures Release Blog Hop

Hello, hello!

Today I’m very excited to be part of a blog hop to celebrate Catherine Poolers’s latest release Tropical Treasures! You should have come here from Nanette Tracy and the next stop on the hop is the fabulous Deepti Stephens!

I made a LOT of cards with my goodies, so I will try and keep it short and sweet but if you know me… that’s probably not something I will be able to stick to. Eh, whatcha gonna do? You might also have seen a card I made for the Instagram hop that started yesterday. Click HERE to go to my Instagram post to see the rules and how to enter that giveaway!

Now, let’s get to the cards I made for this hop! For my first card I used the ‘Lovely’ stamp from Isn’t She Lovely, and lots of Catherine Pooler inks. With the help of my MISTI, I stamped it from top to bottom, on an A2 panel cut out of Catherine Pooler card stock.

The colours I used are It’s a Girl, Be Mine, Party Dress, Flirty Fuchsia, Pixie Dust and Sweet Sixteen. I also stamped an extra ‘Lovely‘ in Party Dress and cut it out with the coordinating Lovely Word diecut, as well as one in foam sheet. These I layered up and set aside.

To add some interest, I used the Morning Joe Border diecut on the edge and it just happened to fit perfectly around the swirly y on the end of Lovely! On the card base underneath I ink blended some It’s A Girl and Be Mine. To finish off the card I stamped ‘You’re Just’ on a slim strip of card stock and with the extra ‘Lovely’ bit all this got added, along with a few iridescent sequins.

The second and third card are done similar, on Kraft card stock but with different ink colours. I do love creating a patterned paper with stamps, it’s so fun and it makes a card impactful without adding lots of layers. Another thing I am a big fan of. Layers, that is.

On one of the cards I used It’s A Girl, Be Mine, Party Dress, Flirty Fuchsia, Pixie Dust, Sweet Sixteen, Bellini and Coral Cabana.

The other one I used Coral Cabana, Bellini, Limoncello, Tiara, Lime Rickey, Garden Party, then I managed to stamp Sweet Sixteen and Mint To Be on top of each other to create that grey shade and then it’s Mint To Be on it’s own.

On two strips of black card stock I heat embossed ‘Hello’ from Isn’t She Lovely, and added to the panels.

These finished panels I added to card bases and that was that for them!

The next three cards have also used a lot of the same supplies: Card stock, Canvas Grunge Background Stamp, Toucan Do It stamp and coordinating dies, Leave Me In Paradise stamp and coordinating dies as well as Aquatini, Lime Rickey, Mint To Be and Melon Ice inks.

All the cards have got backgrounds done with the Canvas Grunge Background stamp and a mix of the inks. They all also have birds from the Toucan Do It stamp set, which are all coloured in with Copics.

I also stamped up lots of leaves from Leave Me In Paradise, and to make them look more real I heat embossed them in clear embossing powder, before cutting them out with the coordinating diecut.

Here is a closer look at the shiny leaves. For this card I also made a sign to hold the sentiment. It’s just a slim piece of card stock coloured with copics in browns and then added to the rectangle with the ‘Toucan do it!’ sentiment. That’s stamped with Lime Rickey to match the leaves.

The toucans were coloured in as close to natural colours as possible. I used to live in Central America and frequently saw toucans in the wild so it felt like I had to do it this way.

My parrot, on the other hand, got coloured in with a fantasy colour scheme!

This card has the sentiment ‘You’re so tweet’ stamped directly on the card base with Lime Rickey ink. To display the bird I cut out a circle, out of dark brown card stock, for him to sit on. Kind of like he’s got himself a nice little ‘bird couch’ hanging from a tree or something. With lots of leaves to give him shade and to camouflage himself in?

Ay, mama, what a load of nonsense, eh? Bird couch?? I think I have lost the plot a little. It might be time to hop along.

As part of being a guest designer for this release from Catherine Pooler, I was given some goodies for free in exchange for this blog post but I only use what I love and the products that inspire me to create.

I am also an affiliate of Catherine Pooler, which means that if you click on one of the links in this post and treat yourself to something from the shop (and why shouldn’t you??) I get a small commission directly from the company, at no extra cost to yourself. This income I use to run my blog and buy craft supplies to make projects for it. I hope you will consider supporting me in this way if you are going to shop anyway. Thank you in advance, I really do appreciate it and every little helps!

One last thing, and then I will definitely let you go. By commenting on this post you can win a $25 gift card to the Catherine Pooler shop! Winners will be announced on the Catherine Pooler blog on April 1st. That’s NOT an April’s fools!!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have liked my projects and feel inspired! Your next stop is Deepti.

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
