Announcing winner from Altenew Blog Hop and a Thank You card.

Today I have both a card and a winner announcement for you. It’s a day late, sorry about that but I have drawn the winner from the post I made for Altenew’s December release blog hop and because I was so blown away by everyone’s lovely comments, I made a Thank You card. My card today is made with Set E of the Artist Markers, naturally, but I only used the greens. I created a gradient green background directly on alcohol marker friendly card stock by drawing fat stokes of each marker back and forth. When swapping colour, I made sure to blend them in a little. You can create so many different coloured backgrounds by using your Artist Markers like this!

As this is a Thank You card I got my Mega Thanks diecut out. These word diecuts from Altenew are great for maximum impact without too much work. I adore mine!

I cut one ‘thanks’ out of foam sheet and another out of brushed gold mirror card stock. My favourite is from MFT Stamps. To make it easier to layer these up, I leave the cutout in the foam sheet and just peel off the protective film over the word. Then it’s rather simple to get an almost perfect line-up, without too much fiddling. Plus, less risk of it sticking to where it shouldn’t.

To add interest to the background, I heat embossed the branches from Majestic Mistletoe in clear embossing powder. Although, I do kinda wish I could save it as it is before melting. It looks like sugar and is such a fun look!

After making sure all sides of the panel was covered in the mistletoe, it was all melted and left to cool down. I have recently bought a new anti-static tool and it is so good!! I’m not sure where it’s from as I threw away the packaging *rookie mistake!* but it’s so easy to get a great coverage and avoid getting those pesky stray bits of embossing powder all over your work.

The card base is white and I adhered the panel to it with double sided tape. Then the ‘thanks’ diecut was added and as a final flourish I added lots of dots using Enamel Accents in Classic Cherry.

Now, I know mistletoe berries are not red but the red works as such a lovely contrast. As well as adding tons of texture! But resist the temptation to check if they are dry, if you add them to your cards directly, like I do.
