Happy Pawliday CAS card

Hello!

Today’s card is a very simple but cute Christmas card using the absolutely adorable Happy Pawlidays set from My Favorite Things. I have no will-power whatsoever when it comes to doggie stamps (or any cute critter really) so as soon as it came out I knew I had to have it. And because I am not a fan of fussy cutting, I also got the Coordinating die-namics… please don’t judge, I admit it willingly, I’m a hopeless case when it comes to saying no to cute stuff.

Ok, now that all the admissions are out of the way, let’s talk crafting!

I stamped up one of the cute doggies on Copic friendly paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and got to work with my Copics. Once I was happy with the colouring, I used the coordinating die, cut it out and added glossy accents to the little light bulbs, nose and eyes to make them pop.

For the background I wanted to keep it white, to keep to the whole CAS ideology, but with some interest still…. so how to solve this? I decided to stamp This background stamp and heatemboss it with white embossing powder on white card stock. It’s subtle but looks, and feels, lovely without taking away too much of the attention from the main focus of the card.

When I was making this card, I actually used a sketch as inspiration, MFT Sketch 359, from the Card Challenges blog.

To keep to the sketch I added a frame around the little doggie (which I added to the background panel using foam tape to raise him up a little bit) I used the second biggest one in the Outside in Stitched square stackable die cuts and cut it out in silver glittery paper. And double sided adhesive foam too, because I love dimension on cards. Even my CAS cards.

There are so many cute sentiments in the stamp set and I picked one that says ‘May your days be furry and bright’. It’s stamped with black ink on a strip of white card stock, which I cut little fishtail details on each end using scissors for extra details. I contemplated adding foam tape to this too to keep it level with the frame, but would you believe it? I did not. I can practically hear the thuds around the world from you guys hitting the floor in shock…! LOL! Self confessed foam tape addict here.

Well, now that you might have recovered from the shock, I’ll get on with it. The sentiment strip is added using a little bit of double sided tape but hanging over the tops of the frame. This is the first time I’ve done this and I’m feeling a bit more excited about it than I probably should. It’s not exactly ground breaking stuff.

As this wasn’t rocket science, that means the card was done. I’m still struggling with CAS style but this one I am rather happy with.
